since dropping off a new bike to a self-guided couple, we've been dying to go back to cortona. when we went in the day, it had the most beautiful views ever and it looked really cute. it worked out that a few of us headed out one night for dinner. we went to kim's old work, a super cute little restaurant that had THE YUMMIEST pasta of all time. it's their specialty...a cream sauce with vodka and bacon! it's an authentic version of the penne a la vodka we make (and boy did it put us to shame). all of us gobbled it down like we'd never eaten before. it was one of those things where we got there and the owner (mario!) served us whatever he had. i think that's the way a restaurant should be...if it's in season and they still have some in the kitchen, that's what you get. if not, too bad! we also had steak (which was way too rare for me, but everyone else really enjoyed) and some dessert. i finally had the typical cantucci and vin santo (almond biscotti and dessert wine) - yum! you dip your cookies into the wine and then go nuts. we're definitely going to try to find some vin santo to bring home so our dinner parties will have a way more awesome ending :)
it was really fun to hang out and chat, and walk around the city a bit. we will definitely be going back in the day to explore!
