on sunday, tyler, chris and i stacked ourselves with van snack and beer and were on the road at exactly 8am for the most amazing day EVER!
we weren't quite sure if we were going to make it to the finish line to watch the stage or not but we were determined to find the best spot on the mountain...which we did find! we got there 5 hours early, so we just wandered around, had some amazing german beer (and got pretty drunk off it hahha) and then staked out our spot for the afternoon. by the time the caravan came through throwing free stuff, we had finished all our beer and had made a bunch of new friends from new zealand :)
you can't even imagine how exciting it was to be there when all the riders went by. there were SIX helicopters flying overhead (which alerted us to the frenzy that was about to begin) and then ZOOOOOM! the riders just FLEW by! as you'll see below, there were 3 riders out front and then the second pack, with my boyfriend mr lance armstrong, was about a minute behind. then there were several more big packs over the next few minutes. but when i say frenzy, i mean it. people were screaming and cheering and jumping up and down. i was frantically taking photos while doing all of the above. it was excitement to the max! not to mention the fact that we were in the french alps, it was a BEAUTIFUL backdrop to the most exciting day of my life! chris was like a little boy on christmas morning! SO CUTE! seeing all the riders go by like that made all 3 of us so hyped up...we were chattering away about it all for a long time after the riders flew by. and when we realized i got the best photo of lance EVER, without even realizing i got it until he rode by and i saw his number on his bum :), we were all VERY hyper!
well worth the sun burn :)
