despite all the drama of the night before, we headed out to florence for the day to do some shopping and sight seeing. since chris and i had been there, we took josh and christine to some of our favourite places...GROM! they finally experienced the BEST gelato in the world! we walked around the duomo and the market (boy did josh and christine shop!). chris decided to do the sketchiest thing of all time to get a knockoff louis vuitton bag (i'm still mad about it!) and then we went over to the Galleria Academia to visit the most famous David in the world (sorry Porteous, i'd have to say you're second to this one). it was a nice day out and about, which turned into an even better evening...
we were originally going to head over to cortona on sunday for their steak sagra, but we realized our little town (Badia Al Pino) was having their own. of course we had to go to ours instead! i'm so glad we did. the food was EXCELLENT (probably the best steak i've EVER had) and the atmosphere was super fun. josh and christine got the 12 oz steak (which was literally spilling off the plate) and it was still raw on the inside. EW! josh did a really good job of finishing it off - kudos, because i couldn't even look over at it. ours, the 8 oz steak, was perfect - especially with all the bread, wine and fruit! i guess they don't get too many canadians coming to their sagras because one of the chefs (Maurizio) came over to see how we were doing. in our broken italian, we tried to convey how AMAZING our dinner was. after awhile, even though we were stuffed to the brim, maurizio came back over with some ribs and sausages for us to try. holy crap! incredible! then he told us to come to the cooking area when we done for something to drink - the moment he said "italian sangria", i was in love with him. and when he warned us that it makes you go a "little crazy", he was right! when we finally learned what was in it, we concluded that "cognac = crazy" HAHAHA. it was so tasty though and the whole group of chefs came to chat with us. the best part was that we could see all the smoke from the bbq all the way from our home windows. and the closer we got, the better it smelled. MMMMMMMMMM! it was such a great night!!! i'm so glad we went!
